Year of the Witch

Connecting with nature’s seasons through intuitive magick. Year of the Witch by Temperance Alden is a must read because it asks witches to evaluate why the Wheel of the Year traditions exist and what does it mean to you. These pages walk you through the process of shedding what no longer serves you and replaces it with tools that focus on the pieces of your year worth celebrating. I really enjoyed reading this book because there was so much to gain from the engaging chapters. I look forward to reading it again and referencing my current dog eared pages.

Temperance does a great job of presenting this very condensed yet deep dive into the holidays witches celebrate. Thought provoking and valid, does the history or current tradition hold meaning to or for me? This book is written about and through her personal experiences, a brave and honest way to show the reader “How To” with details about her own evolution of the Wheel of the Year.

I enjoyed the emphasis on your intuition and the value this skill has. She writes about “intuition as a muscle” and “meeting your intuition” with helpful exercises to differentiate ego from intuition. In order to purge what no longer serves us we need to feel what does. I appreciated theses thoughtful and helpful additions throughout the book, like the plant checklist, that make you want to reference pages again and again.

I will definitely be spending time creating a new wheel of the year with the perspective and guidance I gained from this book. Feel the cycles, take the time to get to know them and embrace them. I look forward to the connection I can experience after reevaluating my personal year and creating a wheel that is meaningful to me. Join the conversation on Face Book in our group.
